For as long as I can remember, we have been making our own syrup. Pancakes are a Sunday morning tradition at our house. I thought I would share my sweet husband's recipes with you.
Maple Syrup
2 cups Sugar
2 cups light Brown Sugar
2 cups Water
1/4 tsp Maple Flavoring
1/4 tsp Vanilla
Combine water and both sugars in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Stir in maple and vanilla.
NOTE from Larry : I "cheated" and bought a bottle of syrup that can be reheated in the microwave. We used this up and have been re-using the bottle ever since. This recipe fits just right in the bottle that we bought.
Pancakes
3 cups Flour (self-rising)
1 Egg(s)
1/6 cup Cooking Oil
3 cups Milk
Put flour, eggs, and cooking oil in a large mixing bowl. Add milk slowly while mixing to a good
consistency. Brown on one side on a griddle set to about 280 degrees. Flip and brown the other side
(this is much quicker than the first side).
This makes about 15 pancakes
